Bloating doesn’t only occur in your stomach. You might also experience bloating in your face – and it’s not always because of water retention. Bloating can result because of various reasons, including your diet. Here are five reasons why you keep having a bloated face even with the best of face rollers.

Salty Foods

Sodium causes your body to retain large amounts of water, making you feel bloated and uncomfortable. For women in particular, some hormonal fluctuations just before your period can cause your body to retain even more water, making your face even more bloated.

Foods High In Omega-6 Oils

For some, oils made from corn, safflower and peanut can sometimes cause your face to bloat. Depending on your body, see if this could be the reason by eliminating certain fried foods from your diet and see if your body responses better to omega-3 fatty acids like olive oil, flaxseed oil and fish oil.

Refined Foods

Some people have claimed that refined flours, sugars and foods that are high in glycemic index causes them to bloat. If you suspect that this could be the case, avoid consuming them for a while to see how it feels.

Mild Allergies

From shellfish to peanuts, different people are allergic to a wide variety of foods and at varying degrees too. Sometimes, all it takes is one extra piece of a certain food item to set your body off.

Foods With Indigestible Sugars

Cruciferous vegetables like broccoli, kale and cabbage contain indigestible sugars that your body cannot break down. In time, bacteria in your digestive tracts ferments these sugars causing you to feel gassy and lead you to feeling and looking bloated.
