To get a better understanding of how the future of living spaces might look like, we visited Smart Living Gallery at 61 Upper Paya Lebar Road, where we were treated to a fascinating and enlightening experience.
A GLIMPSE OF TOMORROW
As we stepped into Smart Living Gallery, we were immediately greeted with a sense of anticipation. The entrance area showcases some of the latest and most eye- catching innovations in smart lighting, smart hubs and smart locks. Greeted by the store’s very knowledgeable staff, we were given an expert introduction on the concept of smart living, and the various components that make up this whole.
One of the first things that struck us was the vast array of smart lighting options available here. Featuring the well- regarded brands of Yeelight and Aqara, one of the largest smart home solution providers in China, we were given quite the comprehensive introduction to the transformative effect of intelligent lighting in a smart home.
The days of flipping switches or manually adjusting dimmers are antiquated. From the use of smart switches and smart hubs for convenient and complete remote control over the lighting of your home, to the usage of colour-changing, movable lights for light colour, brightness and placement customisation, smart lighting allows us to adjust home lighting to our specific needs, and also reduce power consumption at the same time. Convenience and sustainability come hand-in-hand!
THE POWER OF AUTOMATION
Walking into the adjoining living room/entertainment room mock-up, we were treated to an example of a live smart living environment powered by Google Home – linked seamlessly by the Aqara D100 Smart Door Lock. The Aqara D100 Smart Door Lock not only provides premium security through nine unlock modes, including fingerprint recognition and PINs, it also speaks to other smart devices in your home to provide automation once you get home – Your lights turn on and your air-conditioner switches on. It was an eye-opener experience to say the least!
The demonstration we were given at the living room mock- up further highlighted the power of smart automation. Entertainment is taken to a new level of convenience and immersion. Calling out to Google, the sales staff remotely drew the curtains, turned on the living room air-conditioner, dimmed the lights and got his specified movie playing on the smart TV screen. The volume was also adjusted on voice command. Sit and relax, they told us. And it was a very relaxing experience as the AI took care of everything for us!
A FULL-FLEDGED SMART HOME
Moving onto the second floor, Smart Living Gallery features a full-fledged living space mock-up, including a living room, a kitchen and bedrooms. Over here, you see the full benefits of a magnetic track lighting system as spotlights and line lights can be shifted anywhere along the track based on specific needs. Heading into the bedrooms, we were given a chance to try out the Marble Flex smart bed, which can provide customised positioning adjustments for your back, neck and leg adjustments. Say goodbye to the endless fluffing of your pillows as you get comfortable with pressure-relieving positions and convenient presets. Sleep well and sleep tight!

Throughout our walk in Smart Living Gallery, knowledgeable staff members were there to patiently answer all our questions, offer demonstrations, and provide insights into the various products. They helped us to understand how these innovations can be seamlessly integrated into our homes, tailored to our specific needs and preferences.
