\\SMELLY, CLOGGED SINK

Wrinkling your nose at the stench coming from  the sink? Pour in 30g of baking soda into the drain,  followed by 30ml of white vinegar. Allow the mixture  to sit and bubble for up to 10 minutes. While the  vinegar and baking soda are doing their job, boil  a pot of water Pour the hot water down the drain to clear away your baking soda mixture and any remaining food bits. If the smell is still there, you may need to remove the trap under the sink.

\\LINGERING SMELLS IN THE KITCHEN

Sambal tastes delicious, but the lingering smell in your kitchen after cooking it may not be that pleasant. Kitchen odours can be neutralised in a few simple steps.

Combine 3 tablespoons of white vinegar with a cup of water in a saucepan and let boil for 10 minutes. Alternatively, leave a bowl of vinegar baking soda or coffee grounds on the table overnight to soak up any remaining smells before you wake in the morning.

\\GRIMY SINK

Tired of scrubbing the grime off the basins? Skip the bar soap and use a liquid soap with a pump or a hands-free soap dispenser instead. Eliminating the grimy soap dish will help your sink and countertop stay cleaner.

\\GET A GOOD NIGHT’S SLEEP

Take everything off your bed. Remove the bed sheets, sprinkle baking soda lightly over the mattresses and let sit for 30 minutes for a fresh scent. Vacuum your entire mattress, front to back. This will remove a buildup of dust, crumbs and any small particles.

\\GET RID OF TOBACCO

If you have a smoker in your house, chances are your, furniture may be stained with tobacco smoke. To remove the lingering smell of smoke, remove all fabric items such as pillow covers, blankets and curtains and send them for a wash with 2 cups of vinegar. After washing, use a low heat cycle to dry them or if you can-line dry them in the sun.
