About Xu Yanping
Dr Xu Yanping is an ophthalmologist at Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital, Singapore.She specialises in glaucoma surgery and treatment, minimally invasive glaucoma surgery, complex cataract surgery, and retinal disease treatment. She is also experienced in femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery and the use of premium intraocular lenses for the correction of astigmatism and presbyopia.Prior to joining private practice, she was a consultant glaucomatologist at Ng Teng Fong General Hospital (NTFGH).
Dr Xu graduated from the National University of Singapore (NUS) and completed her specialty training in ophthalmology at the National Healthcare Group Eye Institute, before further subspecialising in glaucoma and glaucoma surgery. She then worked as a consultant at NTFGH as a lead glaucoma doctor where she managed a range of complex glaucoma conditions.She is one of a few glaucoma specialists to have completed three advanced training fellowships at NTFGH, Singapore National Eye Centre, and Royal Perth and Sir Charles Gairdner hospitals in Australia. She has undergone specialised training in a range of glaucoma surgeries including trabeculectomy, and glaucoma filtration devices such as Ahmed, Baerveldt and Molteno tubes, and MIGS. She also performs adjunctive laser procedures such as micropulse transscleral cyclophotocoagulation, laser peripheral iridotomy and selective laser trabeculoplasty in the management of glaucoma patients.Besides her clinical work, she was a former director of undergraduate education for ophthalmology at NTFGH and was awarded the Dean’s Excellence Award by NUS. She is a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery examiner for ophthalmology. She was a clinical tutor at Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, NUS and Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, Nanyang Technological University.Dr Xu has a hardworking and dedicated approach towards her work and was awarded the Best House Officer Award of her graduating batch.
