About Tan Poh Seng
Dr Tan Poh Seng is a gastroenterologist at Mount Elizabeth Hospital, Singapore.His clinical expertise includes advanced liver diseases, viral hepatitis, fatty liver, liver cirrhosis, liver cancer and liver transplantation.He is also experienced in common digestive diseases and endoscopic procedures like gastroscopy, sigmoidoscopy, colonoscopy, polypectomy, endoscopic variceal ligation and capsule endoscopy.Prior to entering private practice, Dr Tan started and headed the hepatocellular carcinoma clinic in National University Health System. He was the former director of clinical services and a senior consultant of the division of gastroenterology and hepatology at the National University Hospital (NUH).He was a senior consultant and core transplant hepatologist of the liver transplant programme at NUH’s National University Centre for Organ Transplantation, and the clinical lead for the hepatobiliary tumour group at the National University Cancer Institute. He was also a transplant hepatologist for Mount Elizabeth Hospital’s living donor transplantation programme.Dr Tan was an assistant professor at the National University of Singapore Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and a core faculty member for the gastroenterology and hepatology senior residency programme at NUH. Dr Tan has also served as the deputy patient safety officer for the university medicine cluster at NUH. He is currently a visiting consultant at NUH where he continues to be involved in postgraduate education and training of future specialists.Since 2008, he has performed more than 3,000 endoscopies.He has authored numerous research publications and conducted various clinical studies as a principal investigator in the fields of liver transplantation, immunosuppression and hepatocellular carcinoma (liver cancer). Since 2018, he has been the honorary secretary of the Gastroenterological Society of Singapore.
